Interview like a Boss...

Resume
  • For in-person interviews:
    • Plan your commute:  Gauge the worst-case scenario commute time and plan to arrive 15 minutes early

    • Dress for success (and the environment) with a focus on looking pulled together and organized

    • Treat everyone at the company like they are the CEO

  • For virtual/video interviews:

    • Set-up the video conferencing application on your computer or phone at least an hour before the interview

    • Utilize the background filters to allow you to interview without the distractions of your home behind you

    • Ensure that your interview area is quiet without interruptions from people, noise, or animals

    • Dress for success (and the environment) since you are still on the screen and presenting your best self

An interview is a presentation to the client of yourself, your skills, your interests, and how they will match with the particular position. Without preparation, it is challenging to give a convincing argument about why you are the best fit for the job.

  • Research the company and position thoroughly on the internet

  • Know the job description and key skills to highlight when discussing your experience

  • Create a list of solid, engaging questions

  • Practice an interview with a friend or family
